Sponsor an Orphan Scheme Prophet Muhammed ( peace and blessings be upon them) said: "I and the person who looks after an orphan will be in Paradise together like this..." - then he raised his forefinger and middle finger together (Hadith Bukhari) The Al-Khair Foundation is running a 'sponsor an orphan' scheme in Kashmir. Donating just £30 a month, you would be providing food, accommodation, medical and education - for general as well as Islamic academia. For just £30 a month, you could change the life of a child today and lay the foundations for a more promising future.
Scope of Sponsorship Scheme There are currently 1400 orphans in Al-Khair’s Sponsorship scheme; included within this Scheme are those who may have lost a father or been abandoned by their parents or relatives. Nomination: A sponsor may nominate the gender or age group of an orphan as opposed to identifying an individual. This is primarily because of medical priorities that arise within such disadvantaged groups and where help, in terms of your sponsorship, is initially directed. However, you will be notified of details of the individual child who is benefiting from your sponsorship. Communication: A sponsor may write to the affected child via Al-Khair which the local Al-Khair Team will deliver. However, due to the prevailing political sensitivities all correspondences will be monitored prior to delivery. Gifts may also be sent at addition cost. Sponsorship Duration: You may cancel at any time, even though we request that a minimum of three months notice is given in order to minimise disruption for the affected child. Otherwise, your sponsorship will continue until the child reaches 18, following which you will have the option to cancel or redirect the sponsorship to another child. The welfare of the child is of paramount importance and in the event of any cancellation Al-Khair will continue to support the child until such time as another sponsor is available. Visits: Supervised visits can be arranged but need to be planned in advance as Al-Khair will have to obtain, in respect of the sponsor, the relevant statutory checks (such as a Police Background Check). However, because of the prevailing political tensions and terrain, visits may not always be practicable. Sponsorship Payments Schedule: Payments will be collected from the Sponsor on a monthly basis by Direct Debit or Standing Order. Periodic Information: An annual report will be provided to the Sponsor to include a breakdown of expenditure and the child’s progress academically and (if applicable) medically. Other circumstances pertinent to the child will also be reported upon. Orphans in other countries: The Al-Khair Sponsorship Scheme for Orphans has the capacity to help orphans in various counties. Kashmir is a starting point for this Scheme because of the extensive relief work carried out by Al-Khair since the Indian sub-continent earthquake in 2005.
